If you’ve been reading our blog or following us on Facebook, you know that TKG turned 15 years old this year! Woo-hoo, we’re as old as Google! it’s a pretty big milestone, especially given the come-and-go of businesses in the tech field.
So, earlier this year a few of us decided that TKG needed a birthday party to commemorate the occasion. It had been three years since our last big shindig, which was basically a tribute to everyone’s favorite haircut (the Mullet), so it was party time, regardless.
My superiors were even nice enough to let me step away from the keyboard for a few days and slip into my second-favorite role: party planner! Given the success of our previous soirees at TKG, we had some pretty high expectations to live up to with this event, but I think we delivered! So, in case you missed it, here’s a recap of our birthday bash from September 26th:
The coolest party feature (besides the weather being AMAZING) was having Wholly Frijoles Mexican Food Truck to do the food. I worked with Juan, owner of WF, to come up with an easy-to-eat-while-standing menu of corona-braised beef or carnitas tacos, chicken nachos, and burritos. Party guests RAVED about the food, and since the cooking and serving was contained to their truck, there was absolute zero mess to clean up. Brilliant and delicious. I cannot recommend them enough – great communication, great food, and they kept it moving fast! 200 people? No problem.
We also “decked out” our deck (ha) with a “lounge,” bistro tables, 1,200 twinkle lights, and an assortment of borrowed flowers, pumpkins, and grasses from our longtime client and friend, Rice’s Nursery. Little details like lights and greenery made all the difference, and made our deck a place people actually wanted to be.
Inside, we had plenty going on as well, including transforming our main area into a grownup version of a kids’ birthday party (if that makes any sense) – playful, bright, but no cartoon characters. 🙂 We had a hoppin’ bar area with beer, wine, and TKG’s Signature Drink (determined by our Facebook fans), TKG Brain-gria (pink sangria).
Of course, we also had the ubiquitous photo booth with props and a slideshow with 15 years of embarrassing photos.
But what really made the night special was so many of our longtime clients, community friends and leaders, and even family joining us to celebrate. We’re here because of everyone who has lovingly supported us and believed in us since those early days in Geoff’s parents’ basement.
Thanks for growing with us, and we can’t wait to see where the next 15 years takes us.
